Autumn Book Tag!

It's time for a tag before autumn goes away and winter comes!  Today, I was taking a morning walk, and it was so cold.  Autumn is grasping out of our reach, so I've got to do this tag before it's over!

This tag was created by the BookTuber Dani from Dani On Books.

1. What is your favorite thing about autumn?
I love everything about autumn!  The clothes, the food, the colors, the weather, the books, I just love everything!

2. What books on your shelves remind you of going back to school or your school days?
Harry Potter series, of course, as well as Stargirl by Jerry Spinelli.  This may not seem as obvious, but Divergent by Veronica Roth because Tris is going to a new place, kind of like a new school.

3. Find one book on your shelf that has something autumn-related on the cover.
On The Dark Is Rising: The Complete Sequence, the leaves are falling off the trees and that just really reminds me of autumn.

4. What is your favorite horror/Halloween story?
My favorite would have to be "The Legend of La Llorona."  It is a Mexican legend that's very creepy and fun to listen to.  Another one would have to be "The Hitchhiker" because my mom has told it to me since I was a child.

5. What is your favorite horror films?
I'm a baby.  I don't watch horror films.

6. Which book release are you most looking forward to this autumn?
So, it's already come out and I've already read it, but Allegiant was the biggest book release this autumn.

7. Which film release are you most looking forward to this autumn?
I don't really have one.

8. Show three books that you are hoping to read this season.
The Selection by Kiera Cass, Legend by Marie Lu, and Looking For Alaska by John Green.

keep chirping,

Just Read and Currently Reading!

Hey guys, so I finished The Running Dream by Wendelin Van Draanen days ago, and it was AMAZING!  I've talked about this book so much in other blogs, but I haven't written a flat-out book review because- I don't know, but the next book I read I will write a review!  Cross my heart, hope to die!  But, anyways, you HAVE to read this book.  It's realistic, but it is still just great and inspiring. It's emotional and it pulls you in.  Wendelin Van Draanen just illustrates life beautifully.

So, I am currently reading After: 19 Stories of Apocalypse and Dystopia by various authors, and, I have to say: I am loving so stories and not loving some others.  I will DEFINITELY be doing a review on this book, so watch out for it!

Thanks, guys!  Keep on reading, keep on chirping!  Expect a book tag in the near future!

Favorites- Books, Songs, Everything!!!

Hey chirpers!  So today, I'm going to do something a little different.  I'm going to do a "favorites" post because I just have to tell you what I've been loving.  Don't worry, this does include books, but it is some other stuff too, so just roll with it.  Let's get started!

Beauty/Health/That Kind of Stuff
My first favorite in this category is Simple Cleansing Facial Wipes.  These make your skin feel so clean and refreshing.  They just clean everything out of your pores and they're really good for sensitive skin like mine, so you should definitely try them.  Bonus point: they are recommended by Girls star Alison Williams.

My second favorite in this category is anything from The Body Shop!  This store doesn't test on animals and they just have such amazing products, so buy everything you need from there!  My favorites are currently Moringa Milk Body Lotion, Sweet Lemon Shower Gel, Satsuma Shower Gel, Strawberry Lip Balm, Watermelon Lip Balm, and Satsuma Shimmer Lip Balm.

My next favorite in this category will have to be Dove.  This brand is just so cleansing.  I love their Dove Soap because it makes me feel clean and brand new.  I am also loving the Dove Body Wash.

Now I am going to try to say as little as possible because I could write about five pages on Organix shampoo and conditioner.  It makes your hair feel and smell like a million bucks.  It's just plain amazing.  Simply amazing.  And it's inexpensive and there's no testing on animals!  The two kinds I love the most are Teatree Mint and Nutritional Acai Berry Avocado.

Lastly in this category is the Wet Brush.  I own three wet brushes because they just comb my hair instantly after I get it wet and makes it look fabulous and it's no longer messy!  You probably think I'm lying, but these are at the top of my list.  I worship them. You have to try them.  Yes, you!  YOU have to try them!

Clothes:
I have been loving my Target clothes, because I just got some new stuff and it's so cute!  The first thing I got is a sweatshirt with Woody that says, "The party don't start 'till I walk in."  And I got some Christmas shirts, one is "Keep calm and grinch on," and the other is "I believe."  I also got the cutest owl pajamas and I have been loving them!

Shoes:
I'm a little antsy about these.  I have two pairs of Toms, but we have a love/hate relationship.  I can't wear them every day like I want to because they wear out easily and they get wet even though my feet don't sweat really, but they are still adorable!  I have blue toms with white polka dots and dictionary toms with definitions on them.  EEEEEEEE!

Another pair of shoes that I love are the Taylor Swift Red Keds.  They're just classic and comfy.  And they're Taylor Swift!

Last pair of shoes is DexFlex by Dexter.  These are flats you can get in different colors and patterns(basic), but they adjust to your foot and are very flexible.  I just got mys econd pair and they are so great!

Music
Everything Ed Sheeran.

Story of My Life by One Direction is so sweet and I like to listen to it in the car and pretend I'm in a tearjerker movie.  Weird, right?

Clarity by Zedd ft. the Foxes may have come out a while ago,but it is still my jam.

Royals by Lorde is just perfection.  It's so amazing and cool.  I love it!

Katy Perry has just been my jam recently.

Books
The Running Dream by Wendelin Van Draanen is my life right now.  I finished it this morning and it is such an inspiring story.

Divergent by Veronica Roth.  I'm mourning my losses by thinking of this book.

I'm not sure who it's by, nut How to Save a Life is definitely one of my favorites this month.

And last but not least, The Apothecary and The Apprentices by Maile Meloy are so amazing, so read them!

Thanks chirpers!  Wren out!

Marry, Kiss, Cliff Tag!!!

Hey guys, so today, I'm going to be doing the Marry, Kiss, Cliff book tag.  And how I'm going to do it is I have put names of male characters in books I have read into a little jar and I am going to be picking three out at a time without looking and deciding which character I will marry, which one I will kiss, and which one I will push off a cliff.  Fun!  So, let's get picking.

In Round 1, my first three are...let me see...Ron Weasley from the Harry Potter series, Augustus Waters from The Fault in our Stars, and Gavin from The Running Dream.  This is so hard.  I mean, there's Ron Weasley, who's a boss, but Augustus is my idol and my true love, but Gavin is so handsome and romantic.  I think I am going to marry Augustus Waters, kiss Ron Weasley, and (crying) cliff Gavin.

In Round 2, I choose from Benjamin Burrows from The Apothecary, Simon from the Mortal Instruments series, and Tobias Eaton from the Divergent trilogy.  Well, of course I'm going to marry Tobias!  I am going to kiss Benjamin Burrows.  Sorry, Simon, but you're being pushed off of a cliff.

In Round 3, the final round, we have Josh from The Future of Us, Jace from the Mortal Instruments series, and Harry from Harry Potter.  Now, this is hard.  I'm definitely marrying Harry Potter.  And I'm going to kiss...Josh.  I'm SORRY, Jace.  Clary will probably save you, though.  Or you'll save yourself because you're a sexy shadow hunter.

Book Haul!!!

So, last week, a Scholastic Book Fair came to the city I reside in, and, of course, I had to go.  Come, on, chirpers, you know me.  So, I went with a $40 budget, and came back with five books!

Because Feelings Matter Tag

This tag was created by Michelle Lynn's YouTube channel.

1. What book made you feel confident, either about yourself or your life?
This is nonfiction, but Cool Women by various people.  This book is so interesting and makes me feel confident, strong, and proud!  Basically any book with a strong female character makes me feel this way!

2. Which book made you sympathetic or made you sympathize greatly with the characters?
I would say The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins and futuristic books with characters leading horrible lives.  It just makes me feel sympathetic and sad.

3. Which book made you feel anxious?
Insurgent by Veronica Roth.  I was at the edge of my seat the entire book and I was wanting more.  Oh, the anxiety!

4. What book made you feel annoyed?
I have two books for this answer.  One is a Veronica Roth book and another is a John Green book.  Allegiant annoyed the crap out of me because of everything changing and not being exciting.  Paper Towns, don't get me wrong, I LOVED IT, but it was just one character and her name was Margo. She drove me crazy and she got on my nerves!

5. What book made you feel disappointed?
Allegiant, once again, as well as Mockingjay.  You may notice that they are both the final installments in trilogies.  Another book(it breaks the pattern) is The Red Pyramid, which I actually never finished.

6. What book made you feel confused?
I love, love, LOVE this book, but Over Sea, Under Stone by Susan Cooper was confusing to me.  I'm not sure if that is just my opinion or it really confused others.  I just don't know.

7. What book made you feel satisfied?
The Running Dream, by Wendelin Van Draanen, which I just finished, made me feel very satisfied and warm inside in the ending, despite it's un-cozy beginning.  READ IT!

8. What book made you feel like you could really relate to the main character?
I have to say I can relate to Tris from Divergent because I know what it's like to want to move out of your family but not at the same time and I know what it feels like to lose someone you really love.  I feel like I understand everything she does in the series, and that I would have done the same.

ALLEGIANT *SPOILERS*

Hey chirpers!  So, I finished Allegiant a couple of days ago- I know- and I'm going to talk about it today.  I know that it's taken me a while to write this review, but I think I am finally emotionally ready to talk about this.

So, first of all, this was TOTALLY not my favorite book.  I mean, there was just so much that was revealed and erupted.  So much was just dumped onto us in Allegiant and that annoys me.  And all of this 'Divergent' stuff that's been going on in Divergent and Insurgent- we think it's some superpower, but it's just "damaged" and "pure" genes.  Also, the fact that they just left Chicago and went outside the fence to a new life and they never returned just makes me angry.  I think they should have gone back and fixed Chicago or something.  You don't just abandon it for this new place that's equally sucky.  I mean, if outside the fence was paradise, then stay by all means, but it's JUST AS FLAWED AS CHICAGO!

Yawn.  To be honest, I did some of this while reading this book.  It wasn't as exciting as the others, and it could have been just as much more exciting and it could have kept me on the edge of my seat and it didn't.  Mostly everything was predictable- Nita is bad.  Tris forgives Tobias.  You see what I mean?  Even I saw red flags when Tris escorted Caleb to his doom in the end.  Of course she would save him and sacrifice herself for the cause- SHE WAS ABNEGATION!  And how could Nita possibly be good?  Nita sends Tobias notes to meet her late at night-RED FLAG- and talks about a rebellion-RED FLAG.  He can't tell anyone-RED FLAG- and she wants him to disable the alarm system-RED FLAG.
Predictable!

Tris and Tobias?  I didn't like seeing both of their point of views.  I got so confused because I thought I was reading from Tris but I was reading from tobias and I thought I was ending from Tobias but I was reading from Tris.  Why couldn't she just do Tris?  I watched the interview with Veronica Roth, I know she said that she would be leaving stuff out, but I think she still could have told a beautiful story with just Tris- just like she did with the others!

WHY KILL TRIS?  That's all I ask, Veronica, I mean, really, why?  Why end it like that?  Why do that?  I know that you're trying to make a fantasy book as realistic as possible but I'm still just so angry!
Why leave Tobias?  And Tobias is probably going to move on and marry some hot chick.  WHY?

So...yeah...ummmm...I think I'm just going to back to crying...

This or That Book Tag!!!!

1. audio or book in hand?
Book in hand. -Fun fact- I have never listened to an audio book in my entire life.  Never.

2. paperback or hardback?
I like hardback because of how good of a condition it stays in.  I often buy paperback, though, because it's so much more cheap.  Hardback is my favorite, though.

3. fiction or non-fiction?
Fiction.  Non-fiction interests me so much but I'm a fiction girl.  I'm a YA girl.  Fiction is my bestie.

4. fantasy or realistic fiction?
Realistic fiction is what I love, and I just started getting into fantasy.  Realistic fiction is my favorite, but I'm starting to really love fantasy.

5. harry potter or twilight?
Harry Potter wins by a billion votes.  I never even read Twilight.  I'm going to someday, but...

6. kindle, ipad, or other?
Kindle.  I prefer a physical book, but I do really like kindles and how the price is often discounted.  I use my kindle for travel.

7. borrow or buy?
Borrow.  So much money just adds up if you buy everything. I only buy books that mean a lot to me.

8. bookstore or online?
Bookstores are so cool.  Online is not so hot in my book.  I love local bookstores because they have such a cozy feel to them, unlike Barnes and Noble or Books a Million.

9. one-time or trilogy?
It doesn't matter to me as long as it's a good book.

10. monster read or short and sweet?
Monster reads are often more in-depth and interesting.

11. starry-eyed romance or full of action?
To be successful for me, you need romance and action.

12. curl up in your snuggie or bathe in the sun?
I find it extremely difficult to read on the beach yet incredibly easy to curl up on the couch or in my bed and read.

13. hot chocolate or latte?
Hot chocolate definitely.  Lattes aren't appealing to me, and I have so many memories of my mom and I getting hot chocolate.  Not to mention it tastes freaking awesome.

14. read the review or decide for yourself?
Decide for yourself!  You need to develop your own opinion, not take someone elses's.

Special thanks to AurasBookBox who created this tag!

Favorite Books

Hey everyone!  How's life going for you?  I hope you're doing well!  In case you didn't read the title, today I am going to be chirping about my favorite books.  I will be numbering this list, but THEY ARE IN NO PARTICULAR ORDER!  I don't know why I just capitalized that.  Probably for the skimmers who went right to the list.  So, let's get started!  I hope you like it!

1. Harry Potter Series
If you haven't read these, you need to go out and read them RIGHT NOW!  I read Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in first grade and it changed my life.  Harry Potter has been so good to me, *SPOILER ALERT* from Ron and Hermione falling in love to the death of Voldemort.  A few parts did upset me very much, like *SPOILER ALERT* Dobby!  WHY, DOBBY, WHY?????????????  Really?  Why did J.K. Rowling feel that she needed to kill him!  And I already know her answer,  so you don't have to answer that question.

2. City of Bones
This is, in my opinion, the best book in The Mortal Instruments series.  To be honest, I haven't read the last two, City of Fallen Angels and City of Lost Souls.  I think it's because City of Glass didn't do anything for me. I know, smack me and punch me through the screen.  If you'd like, send me an email yelling at me for not reading the last two.  I understand.  But the casting for Jace?  HE'S SUPPOSED TO BE HOT, PEOPLE!

3. Divergent
This book was the one that got me into YA fantasy!  Before, I was just sold on YA realistic fiction, but once I read this, I thought, "Okay, I'll give YA fantasy and sci-fi a chance."  I'm so happy I did!  This book is eye-opening and beautiful!  It's just plain amazing, so you need to read it and it's equally-amazing sequel Insurgent.  I'm currently reading Allegiant, the final book in the trilogy, and it is not so hot right now, so I hope I get into it more, because I need a happy ending.

4. The Hunger Games
Whoever hasn't read this book must live under a rock, because everyone has read the trilogy.  My favorite is the first one, The Hunger Games, but Catching Fire is so good too.  SO good.  These books really make you wonder what is going to happen in our future and what people will be treated like.  Mockingjay was not a satisfying ending at all and it was one of the worst endings I've read, actually.  Okay, so I'm exaggerating.  But I don't think anyone was happy with Mockingjay.

5. Anything by John Green
I have read everything by John Green EXCEPT for Looking For Alaska and Will Grayson Will Grayson, which I SO, SO, SO want to read!  The Fault In Our Stars was my favorite, but I just love everything by him and I just love him!  I would marry John Green if I were able to.  So every person on Earth needs to read his books, which are The Fault in Our Stars, Paper Towns, and An Abundance of Katherines.

6. Thirteen Reasons Why
I'm speechless.  I don't know how to describe this book because it's so sad yet eye-opening and it makes you wonder what causes a person to commit suicide.  It's just horrible how people treat others and how some people are just considered garbage.  Everyone has to read this book and it just makes you realize what happens when there's just too much hate in a person's life.

7. The Future of Us
Hilarious.  This book is just hilarious.  The humor is just unbelievable considering Jay Asher also wrote Thirteen Reasons Why.  He and cowriter Carolyn Mackler must be very creative to come up with the story line: What if you could see your future- and change it- through Facebook?

So, that is my list of favorite books that you need to read.  Thanks chirpers!  Comment, shout me out, do anything, really.  KEEP READING!  KEEP CHIRPING!  If you are just coming upon me, below is a link to my profile.  Are you an author or a publisher?  Email me!  Questions, comments, concerns, book ideas?  Email me!  Below are also links to these books and their authors.

Hello, all!  Welcome to Book Chirp!  This is my little fun eclectic blog, where I chirp about YA novels, my passion, as well as some other things such as tags.  But really, this is all about YA and some other genres occasionally.  Please read my profile for information about me and inquires!  Or I could just tell you right now.  I guess I'll do that.

My name is Wren, yes, just like the bird.  I guess I should tell you that it's not my real name(as in not on my birth certificate) but I do go by it with everyone.  I just think Wren is an amazing, cool, eclectic, alternative, rare name.  So my name is Wren.  I love reading, writing, thinking, playing sports, being in nature, hanging with friends, and so many other cool things like photography!  I'm thinking about becoming a hippie.  I am a vegetarian and I once was vegan for a month growing up but my parents didn't let me continue.  I'm going to try again maybe.  I love learning new things and trying new things. This may sound weird, but I really like to face my fears.  I don't wear makeup because it makes my skin feel weird and I believe that you don't need makeup to be beautiful.

If you want me to read your original book, please email me at birdchirplady@gmail.com.  I guess I should write a review policy, but currently, I'm open to reading pretty much anything.   I look forward to reading all your books!  I accept books from authors and publishers.  If you didn't write the book but you think that it's just the best book ever, email me and I'll read it!

Thanks everyone!  I look forward to blogging and talking to you guys!

                      Love,
            Wren a.k.a. Book Chirp
